Greetings, Flower Fam! While the NFT market is admittedly still in this enduring lull, we’ve had our eyes fixed on the horizon, strategizing for the far future, which brings us to our latest release. It’s time for another update, one that changes the very fabric of how we plant, play, and grow. Today, after 6 months of active development, we are prepared to announce BTC Flower’s ‘Canister Upgrade’!
What’s all this about ‘Canisters,’ you ask?
Imagine, if you will, little digital greenhouses where our beloved BTC Flowers grow and thrive. These digital environments have served us well, but as we all know, every plant outgrows its pot. Our flourishing community, the unparalleled expansion of our NFT project, and the new features we are striving to implement necessitated a move to more spacious, more advanced, and more secure digital pots. Yes, we have transplanted ourselves into newer, more stable, and shinier canisters!
The process was no small feat. It was like trying to repot a rare orchid in the middle of a storm, armed only with a pair of tweezers. Our dedicated team meticulously uprooted all the BTC Flower canister code, pruned and polished it, then lovingly reintegrated it. The result? An impeccably accurate state update reflecting the new and improved, far more secure canisters.
And what’s even more exciting is that payment is now decentralized!
Our shiny new canisters don’t just house our precious BTC Flowers; they also process payments, manage royalty distribution, and take care of the marketplace fee without the need for a third party.
Why put all this effort you ask? Why’s this such a big deal?
Well, BTC Flower was founded as the first Entrepot project with the team retaining control of an independent NFT Canister. Another way of looking at this is that our NFTs kept the ‘marketplace’ part built-in. The latest upgrade now decentralizes this marketplace functionality, which ushers in a new paradigm. Now DGDG (dgastonia.com) sales can earn royalties on their Flower Sales. In fact, any NFT marketplace, or anyone with the desire to build a site that connects to our NFT Canister, can earn on any Flower transfers they facilitate. Builders can focus on user experience, while canisters autonomously handle payment and transfer. This is Web3 directly transmuting labor into capital. No gatekeepers, no middlemen; akin to a gardener that reaps the literal fruits of their labor. In fact, that’s exactly what we’re going for…
FP DAO’s next major step will be the integration of SEEDs. While we can’t detail just yet their function, it has always been of foremost importance that SEEDs have a life of their own, independent of us (the core team). No central issuer, autonomous mechanics, and no middleman involved in their transfer. This also means, all the NFTs that SEEDs interact with during their lifecycle must also be autonomous, lest there be a point of centrality.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and community engagement, we’re excited to share that this upgrade, like all our development processes, is open-source. We welcome all IC NFTs that’d like to adopt this standard to gain greater autonomy, which can be found here.
