FP DAO: A Year in Review

As the year comes to a close, we at Flower Power DAO want to take a moment to reflect on all that has been accomplished over the past year. When we launched the BTC Flower, we were humbled by how it was embraced by the Internet Computer ecosystem and the larger cryptosphere. It’s been an incredible journey, and we are so proud to have brought joy, hope, and beauty to the world through our art and message.

The Flower Power DAO had an amazing 2022, bringing several firsts to the IC NFT ecosystem. The BTC Flower collection was the first to include real-time data feeds, blockchain-native animations, and a collaboration with a fashion brand and physical swag release. Subsequent collections were the first to integrate Modclub’s bot-prevention mechanism, operate as entirely “Fair Launches,” incorporate DAO utility, hold Dutch auctions, and introduce Soul-Bound attributes. While we were thrilled to see the joy and excitement these collections brought to the flower fam, the true crowning achievement was the onboarding effect they had for the Internet Computer as a whole. Many collectors had their first interaction and exposure to the ecosystem through flowers, and we are grateful to have played a part in their journey.

The latest highlight of the year was the successful launch of the ICP Flower. This vibrant and colorful creation quickly became a fan favorite, bringing a splash of color to the often monochromatic world of cryptocurrency. But we didn’t stop there — Ludo, the artist behind the ICP Flower, continued to spread his art and message in new and exciting ways. He merged elements of his previous DAO collections, creating unique pieces like where Pineapple Punks meet Flowers.

Ludo also reinvigorated his Reboot project, bringing a fresh perspective to the blockchain space. His work was recognized by DFINITY, who invited him to collaborate on the logo for their SNS release. Now this gamechanger for the IC has arrived and is already beginning to have ripples felt across the world of DAOs.

And in a truly exciting development, Ludo is currently working on a collaboration with the iconic Banksy Clown Skateboard Stencil. It’s clear that Ludo’s talent and vision know no bounds.

As we move into 2023 with a completed trilogy it becomes time to shift focus towards the ‘Flower’ and ‘DAO’ parts of FP DAO. This year, all trilogy flowers were configured to the voting page and our DAO V0.5 experiment was run to gauge participation and utility in shaping the direction of things. After a year of the data collection phase, we’re ready to move into DAO V1 which is currently in development.

Next steps for using the flower trilogy to power the DAO are to start with a home base for holder interactions. This adds potential for platform native minting and using SEED growth to power free choice and governance over future DAO creations.

Our plan is to bring the FP DAO experience to a single hub. Collections will operate in something more closely resembling a cohesive Art DAO, and the ways to generate and interact them will be gamified, and that’s all we can share for now ;)

It’s an exciting time for us, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress as we continue to bring joy, hope, and beauty to the world through our art and message. See ya all next year!
