Congratulations to the Clown Skateboards team for their successful release of their newest collection. And a big shoutout to all the new FP DAO holders who made this possible.

The Clown sale finished early, during just the first Flower Trilogy Holder early access round, and we’re excited to announce that they’ve just been revealed at this very moment. Thank you for your continued support and belief in the Clown team’s vision. Let’s celebrate their success together!

Clown Skateboards took a different approach from all previous FP DAO collections by opting for maximum variety & simplicity. That’s why the collection’s primary attribute, and background colors are distributed uniformly, i.e., every color that appears on any part of your piece, except Ludo Green ;) had an equal chance of being any other color.

The result — a universe of seamless, multicolored specimens, whittled down from billions of possibilities by near-perfect randomness, to their exquisite 2000 final forms. These are the full details of all their possible attributes.

The Clown Peices utilize two color palettes. One for the backgrounds:

And one for, well, everything else:

For the purpose of calculating rarity, while evenly distributed, some traits and colors will be treated differently based on the artist’s choice. The choice was rather intuitive for Clowns’, as there were four colors used during the first-ever Clown Skateboards release in “THE TEST PRESS” (2000 Black, Detonator, Who You Looking At, and First Drop Blue). These are weighted heavier than the rest with regard to rarity, and the other colors adapted for later generations of the stencil will be treated as commons.

As for the traits they apply to, well, the clowns come in 4 shapes that by default, are equally rare. There are 500 Butterfly, Flower, Spray, and Square Shapes, that together complete the collection of 2000.

Within each are a number of separate, unique traits and backgrounds. For rarity, together the colors of the background and the three most artistically significant traits are used, totaling 4 rarity-based traits in each piece. Here’s the attribute breakdown:

Attribute Color — Artists Choice Rarity:

Special Color Rarity = 0.05 (2000 Black, Detonator)

Normal Color Rarity = 0.1 (All Others)

Background Color — Artists Choice Rarity:

  • First Drop Blue — 0.08
  • Who You Looking At — 0.08
  • Gold — 0.09
  • DeadBeat — 0.10
  • Ouija — 0.11
  • Paris — 0.12
  • PrinceOliver — 0.13
  • Rivington — 0.14
  • Don&Tommy — 0.15

The rarity of each Clown is simply the product of its 4 traits as per artists choice. This differs from our previous collection that use statistical rarity based on the number of attributes contained in the final collection. As for the reasoning for this less than conventional approach — well, why limit the amount of OG colors in the collection that they’re meant for?

Of course, all holders get the same rights and perks regardless of rarity or other distinguishing features. This distribution is just a means for marketplaces to distinguish its works, enable advanced filtering, and for artists to better define their meaning across the collections.
